TYING INSTRUCTIONS < click here

Target fish: trout, grayling

DRESSING:

Hook: 12 - 16 grub cripple
Mounting thread: 12/0
tail/shuck (exuvia): tuft of soft hen grizzle hackles Body: peacock hearl, peeled off the barbulae
Thorax: opossum or similar fine dubbing, dark brown
Thorax back: feasent fibers mounted to split the deer hair
Wings: deer hair
Notes: At times the emergin nymphs have difficulties to free from the schuck and they get stuck half way. Fish know that taking a crippled emerger is a sure thing. A cripple does not go airborne hence there is no risk that it will fly away after the fish has begun to rise to the surface. It is simple energy saving principle.
I tye also an alternate version, with normal cerci/tails instead of the shuck, in which case I use standard hackles fibers.
